The Fengen Proof of Concept and Technology Development is complete. We are currently in the Technology Demonstration and Product Development Phase. We have continuously operating pilots at WRRF and dairy facilities and we look forward to scaling up to a demonstration system in late 2022.

Our Technology In The Dairy Sector

Many dairies are taking steps to combat climate change by developing digester projects to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from their manure stockpiles.  Further, biogas created in these digesters is upgraded and processed for use as vehicle fuel.  These projects make a significant contribution to reaching climate neutrality in our agricultural sector.  But can we do more?

The Fengen technology provides additional benefits when considered as part of dairy digester projects.  The Fengen serves as a pretreatment step to increase the biodegradability of the feedstock entering the anaerobic digester making it more available for methanogenesis.

Screened manure enters the Fengen and through a biological process, the feedstock is broken down into a more biodegradable form producing volatile fatty acids.  The boosted manure is sent to the anaerobic digester where a higher quantity and quality of gas is created.

We are strengthening the path to climate neutrality in the Dairy Sector by providing an affordable solution for small dairies to participate in the production of renewable energy.  The Fengen Boost makes RNG projects for smaller dairies and even more profitable for larger dairies.

Our Technology In The WRRF Sector

Small WRRFs are experiencing increased regulatory pressures, limited technical solutions, and increasing operations and maintenance budgets.  Specifically related to sludge management, disposal options are decreasing and hauling distances continue to increase.  Hauling and disposal costs continue to rise, making sludge management a significant liability.  Anaerobic digestion and biogas production are generally not economically feasible for WRRFs in the 15 mgd and smaller range.
The Fengen technology can relieve these mounting pressures by:

Fengen provides significant benefits to solids management in the wastewater industry.  Waste activated sludge (WAS) enters the Fengen and through a biological process, the feedstock is broken down into a more biodegradable form with increased volatile fatty acid production.  The intermediate product is capable of producing direct electricity to run the process and the end solids product is reduced by 30% – 40%, dramatically lowering the cost of hauling and disposal.
